Buckingham Palace announced on Monday that Princess Eugenie is expecting her third child with husband Jack Brooksbank, with the baby due to arrive during the summer months.
The Palace statement revealed that the couple are pleased with the pregnancy news and confirmed that their two existing sons are excited about welcoming a new sibling. August, who is five years old, and two-year-old Ernest will become older brothers when the baby arrives later this year. King Charles III has been notified of the development and expressed his delight at the announcement according to palace sources.
Princess Eugenie, the younger daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, married Jack Brooksbank in October 2018 at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle. Their first son August was born in February 2021, followed by Ernest in May 2023. The upcoming arrival will be the couple’s third child in just over six years of marriage.
The new baby will occupy the fifteenth position in the line of succession to the British throne upon birth. Following established royal protocol, the child will not receive the His or Her Royal Highness title, continuing the pattern set by their older brothers. Princess Eugenie currently holds the twelfth position in the succession order, though she does not undertake official royal duties on behalf of the monarchy.
This royal baby announcement comes at a time when the British public continues to show sustained interest in developments within the extended royal family, even as political attention remains focused on domestic policy challenges and the ongoing work of Parliament.
