Aldi brings back shoppers ‘favourite’ hot drink for just 24p – plus more new snacks for summer

Aldi has announced the return of its Mokate Matcha Latte sachets to stores from May 7, 2026, following what the retailer described as strong customer demand from the product’s previous run.

The German-owned supermarket chain will stock the beverage in both Original and Strawberry varieties as part of its Taste of Asia range, with six-serving packs priced at £1.49. This works out to approximately 24 pence per serving. Aldi reported that nearly 700,000 packets were sold during the product’s initial summer launch last year, prompting the decision to bring it back to shelves.

The reintroduction comes amid growing consumer interest in matcha products, with the green tea powder becoming increasingly popular on social media platforms. More than 4.3 million videos featuring matcha content have been posted on TikTok, reflecting the trend’s widespread appeal. Alongside the returning latte sachets, Aldi is also expanding its summer offerings with new high-protein snack bites designed for the warmer months.

The move represents part of Aldi’s broader strategy to capitalise on food trends while maintaining its position as a budget-friendly retailer. The supermarket has increasingly focused on limited-time specialty products alongside its core range, often drawing from international cuisines to attract customers seeking variety at competitive prices.

This product announcement reflects the ongoing competition among UK supermarkets to balance consumer demand for trendy products with cost-conscious shopping habits during a period when household budgets remain under pressure.
